One in a Million Award recipient: Collegiate Achievement Mentorship Program (C.A.M.P Osprey), University of North Florida

Where they are multiplying good: Jacksonville, FL

How they are multiplying good: CAMP Osprey is a mutually beneficial partnership under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Ohlson where collegiate students from the University of North Florida serve as mentors to younger students in the local community. The overall goal of the program is to empower K-12 students regarding the value of higher education, while simultaneously allowing students from the university foster and develop their leadership and interpersonal skills. The leadership principles are based off teachings from Stephen Covey and his book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” which is incorporated into the “Introduction to Leadership” course at UNF. Dr. Ohlson has exemplified true leadership in his acts of service for the program, encouraging others to build up and empower students of all ages and backgrounds. The value of “community” is transparent within CAMP Osprey, having impacted both UNF and Jacksonville as a whole, and continues to serve as a beacon of light in the realm of servant leadership.
