One in a Million Award recipient: Cahill's 2020 Summer Associate Class
Where they are multiplying good: New York, NY
How they are multiplying good: During these unprecedented times, with a growing need for pro bono legal services, Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, a leading, New York-based law firm, dedicated its 2020 summer associate program entirely to pro bono work. The summer class enthusiastically volunteered. Among several projects, Cahill’s summer associates helped Sanctuary for Families provide remote assistance to victims of domestic violence seeking orders of protection. The firm is a founding member of Sanctuary’s Virtual Courtroom Advocates Project, formed in response to the rapid rise in domestic violence cases during the pandemic. In another pro bono project, summer associates helped the firm advise select small businesses (mainly veteran, minority, or woman-owned) about their options for emergency SBA loans and grants under the CARES Act. In addition, summer associates assisted in petitioning courts for compassionate release and helping special-needs children obtain necessary educational services for remote learning.
